Chester can be reached by two motorways the M53 and the M56 from the North and the East. And also by the A51 and A41 from the South. From Wales the main roads in are the A55 and A548 from North Wales, A483 from Wrexham in the south, A494 from Ruthin from the west.

The A55(T) Chester to Holyhead trunk road is the major highway route across North Wales.
It connects the port of Holyhead to the motorway network in England.
The A55 forms part of the Trans-European Road Network and, as such, forms part of Euroroute E22.

The Cheshire Cycleway a 176 miles/282km journey through some of Cheshire's finest scenery
, passing close to the Boat Museum, Chester Zoo, Ness Botanic Gardens, Hack Green Bunker, Stapeley
Water Gardens, Dagfields, Bridgemere, Garden World, Jodrell Bank, Macclesfield Silk Museums and Arley Hall, Routes 5 and 56 of the Millennium Cycle Route pass close to Ness Botanic Gardens, Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium and the Boat Museum. There are special Biking the backroads, 13 mile/20km cycle trails around Anderton.
Another cycle route is the signals and saltmarsh. A ride around Willaston and Parkgate.
A gentle 19km/12 mile ride from Willaston to the Dee Estuary and back. (2-3 hours)

They are situated about one mile from the City Centre, following the A51 Nantwich signs.
The extended Baker Way (13 miles/21km, 5 hours plus stops) links the heart of Chester with Delamere Forest Park. The core of the route is provided by the original Baker Way - a long established route from Christleton to Brines Brow picnic area. The original route was devised by members of the Mid Cheshire Footpaths Society and commemorates the life and work of Jack Baker, one-time footpaths officer for Cheshire County Council. The extended Baker Way provides links to bus and train services at both ends, allowing the route to be walked in either direction without the use of a car,
