Enquiries are free and there is no obligation to buy what you don’t like. http://www.qype.co.uk/place/1502733-Ancient-World-Chester 49 Bridge Street, Old St Michaels Rectory The Rectory within 49 Bridge Street Row was erected in A.D. 1659 during the Protectorate of Oliver Cromwell and was bequeathed by the then owner Lettice Whitley daughter of Sir Francis Gamull, Mayor of the City of Chester A.D. 1635 to St. Michael's Parish to augment the stipend of the vicar and his successors in perpetuity. In 1907 it was purchased by G. H. Crawford with the consent of the Vicar of St. Michael's Parish and of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. In 1975 the building was restored by Ellis Barker Furs and Fashions who received an award from the Civic Trust in association with the United Kingdom Council for European Architectural Heritage Year.
