Celebrate a family Christmas with Chester Music Society Choir, Chester Philharmonic Orchestra and the children of Chester Cathedral Saturday Singing club. We also extend a very warm welsome to our guest presenter Lemn Sissay. Lemn Sissay is a British author and broadcaster, official poet of the 2012 London Olympics and, since 2015, chancellor of the University of Manchester.
Lemn Sissay released his first book of poetry in 1988 at the age of 21, and since the age of 24 he has been a full-time writer, performing internationally. He recently presented Origin Stories on BBC Radio 4.
In addition to many of the old favourite carols the programme will include The Time of Snow by Bob Chilcott, John Rutter's Jesus Child and Enrico Morricone's Gabriel's Oboe.
Saturday Singing Club is a fun, relaxed club for primary school children aged 6 and above and performs at services in the Cathedral throughout the year including Mothering Sunday, Harvest and at the Christmas Eve Crib Service.

Escape from the hustle and bustle of the festive period and lose yourself in our astonishing tree-lined winter walkways – and don’t forget to vote for your favourite trees.
The magic of Christmas continues in Chester Cathedral where the annual Christmas Tree Festival takes place from the end of November.
Chester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival This delightful family event has over 80 Christmas trees each decorated with unique baubles and handmade ornaments.
Decorated by local schools and businesses.
Make lasting memories and start new family traditions at Chester Cathedral this Christmas and Advent.
Christmas Tree Festival is open during normal Cathedral hours.
Switch On Event
TBA 2025, A magical evening which includes a glass of Prosecco (or soft drink alternative).
An intimate carol service and viewing hour of the Christmas Tree Festival before it opens to the public.
The evening winds down just in time to step outside to see the 12 Days of Christmas Parade as it passes the Cathedral.
