Chester Station is the main railway station in Chester. It is located on City Road 10 minutes walk into the city.

Avis Car Hire is less than one minutes walk away if you turn right as you come out of the station and head from Brook Street. Chester Station is owned and maintained by Arriva Trains Wales.

From Chester Station to
Frodsham Street (City Centre)

New! There is a £1 Each Way Bus Service which runs from directly outside the station to Chester City Centre (Frodsham Street).

From 21 November 2011 the City Rail Link bus contract comes to an end and will be replaced by a commercial service operated by Aintree Coachline charging £1 each way for adults.

On the new service up to two children will be able to travel free if travelling with an adult, otherwise the fare will be 65p. Free or reduced fare travel will be available for those customers who are eligible and have valid concessionary travel.

Chester Station Thomas Thomas Brassey 1805 - 2005 Bicentenary

Thomas Brassey was born just outside Chester in 1805. He was the foremost railway contractor of the 19th century and at one time employed over 85,000 workers. He built Chester Station in 1848 and also the railway lines from Chester to Crewe, Holyhead, Birkenhead and Shrewsbury. Thomas had an international reputation and examples of his work are to be seen throughout the world. In Chester Thomas Brassey's name is recalled in Brassey Street and in Thomas Brassey Court (off Lightfoot Street). There is a bust of Thomas Brassey in the St. Erasmus Chapel in Chester Cathedral. And also in the Grosvenor Museum.
