The Chester Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), founded in 1884, is one of the premier non-professional orchestras in North West England. We strive to perform music from a wide repertoire which will appeal to playing members and audiences alike.
The Orchestra, which is a registered charity, is self-funding through member subscriptions, Box Office receipts from concerts and occasional fundraising activities. Sponsorship is also sought and we would be very pleased to hear from any organisations that wish to sponsor us.
We rehearse on Monday evenings (from 7.30pm) in All Saintsí Church Hall on Hoole Road, Chester CH2 3HZ. Good string players are always welcome and there are sometimes vacancies in other sections. The orchestra usually performs four or five concerts a year (including an annual carol concert), which take place in the magnificent setting of Chesterís ancient Cathedral.
