Saturnalia is the old Roman midwinter festival held around the 17th of December.
It is a celebration of the god Saturn, who the Romans thought would bring back light and renewal and summer again.
The Roman festival was a seven day feast were the normal rules of society were reversed.
Slaves became masters and masters became slaves.
In Chester the Roman festival is celebrated by a march through the city centre by Roman Soldiers carrying a effigy of Saturn.
Then torches are light to spread the light to the four corners of the fortress.
This is followed by cries of Lo Saternalia.
