St Martin's Gate St Martin's gate was constructed on 1966 and opened by Barbara Castle MP. The gate is the newest gate in the City Walls and is constructed in concrete to ease the cities traffic problems. It is named after a small ancient city parish church which stood nearby, and was demolished to make way for the ring road.
