Meadow Fishery & Game Fishing Shop is situated four miles from Chester City centre on the A56 between Chester and Helsby. Easy to get to, it is two miles from junction 12 of the M53 and four miles from junction 14 of the M56.
If approaching from Chester on the A56, Meadow Fishery is through Mickle Trafford Village, just past Deeside Sawmills on the left hand side. If you get to the Shrewsbury Arms or the Nags Head you have gone too far.
Approaching on the A56 from the Helsby side, you want to look out for the Nags Head pub, then cross over the River Gowy , pass the Shrewsbury Arms and we are just on the right 100 yards after the pub.

Member of Association of Game Fishery Managers
Back in 1980, John Percival graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in geology and decided then to go into business with his parents, Peter & Joyce, who had just moved to Meadow Farm. After a few years of more conventional farming it was suggested by John's Uncle, David Humphreys, to look at starting a Trout Fishery.
After much research into the project and into fly fishing itself (John used to canoe the Rheidol and the Ystwyth rather than fish them. Until now, a closely guarded secret!).

The start of the excavation of Meadow Lake in 1983
Meadow lake took six months to excavate through the winter of 1983/84 and care was taken to design the lake and its surroundings to make it look as natural as possible -15 years on you would think it has been there for centuries. Two thousand trees and shrubs were planted in the surrounding land providing a habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. Eventually Meadow Fishery opened in the April of 1984 - one 5 acre lake and no shop!
The next lake, Willow, was added in 1989 and finally Mallard Lake opened in 1997 having been created purely by John and Fishery Manager Vince Lewis.
