Cannon Battery at Brewer's Hall Mount Chester 1645
An emplacement known as Brewer's Hall Mount was built on this site to hold the largest gun used by the Parliamentary forces besieging Chester.
The gun weighed approx 8000lbs and had an 8ft barrel.
It was transported from Tarvin to the site probably via a river crossing at Farndon or Aldford.
The gun was set up on the 7th October 1645 and was used to bombard the city,
particularly during the attack at Pemberton Parlour on the 9th October 1645.
The gun helped secure the surrender of the city on February 1646.
The site is located at Chester Golf Club Curzon Park Golf course at the tee to hole 7. Public access is via a footpath along the side of the course.
