The Golden Eagle takes historic pub values and gives them a contemporary bohemian twist. For lovers of music you will find the finest juke box in town, and a knowledgeable staff who share a passion for music, food and ale. The Eagle is constantly improving and evolving its’ products and facilities. History Since 1622 there has been an inn on the current site of the Golden Eagle. As such it is steeped in the history of the city and community. Adjacent to the Chester Castle and Crown Court, the pub served as a hostelry to the Cheshire Regiments Garrison and the barristers and judges of the Court. This tradition has been upheld, and veterans of the regiment still frequent the pub to catch up with old comrades. If you are visiting Chester to absorb its history The Eagle is a prime location, situated within the famous walls which act as a perfect artery to the cities historical heart. If it is Roman history that interests you, the Grosvenor Museum is only yards away. For those interested in military history the Cheshire Regiment Museums are equally close. Chester is also rich in medieval and civil war history. Tour guides often have The Eagle as one of its points of reference. Races One of Chester’s most popular attractions is its’ vibrant and colourful racing calendar. The city comes to life with revellers and racing enthusiasts. The Eagle is the perfect hostelry for race goers. Situated adjacent to the race course, it serves as the perfect location to enjoy all that Chester Races has to offer. Culture Throughout the year Chester plays host to a myriad of cultural activities such as : the literary festival which is gaining international status and a host of musical and theatrical events, too numerous to mention here. Once again The Eagle is perfectly located as a base to attend any of these events. The Eagle is within very easy walking distance of the magnificent Chester Cathedral which is dedicated to St Werburgh and is an ancient abbey.

www.theyeoldekingsheadchester.co.uk
Traditional pub just in the heart of the city on Lower Bridge Street. Set in a 400 year old building.
The Olde Kings Head is once again a top Chester destination. Since recently taking over Claire, Martin & Ken (Clair's father) are generating improvements to the beautiful 400 year old year old building.
The bar has already received a bright, airy face lift with re-instated log fires and a couch area about to be fitted. New signage is going up outside any day now and improvements to the 8 en-suite rooms are planned for the spring.
With Martins culinary expertise, Ye Olde Kings Head was always going to be a food led destination. Marin's experience has not only come from top Irish restaurants. His extensive travel enabled him to work with some of the best chefs in Australia and South East Asia.
Martin and Sous chef Ciaran, both from County Wicklow, use British and Irish influence in the menu, creating something special and with a difference that sets them apart.
Renaissance is the newly named restaurant on the first floor. It was once part of Chester's rows and still remains one of Chester's most beautiful dining rooms. Divided into three sections, the restaurant has already accommodated christenings, birthdays and retirement parties and has wedding receptions booked for the summer.
With an extensive bar menu to choose from, plus the Renaissance restaurant menu, there is something to please everyone. The dishes prepared here, reflect the quality of the fresh, local produce used to create them. All of the wines are tried and tasted to ensure their quality, and are a real compliment to the food.
The Pub has a restaurant on the first floor newly named 'Renaissance'.

www.oddfellowschester.com
hello@oddfellowschester.com
The setting is Oddfellows Hall on Chester’s Lower Bridge Street, a spectacular 17th Century Georgian manor house which we’ve renovated to give it back its character and grandeur; and some. Inside, there are various bars, restaurants, a members’ lounge and 4 very individual hotel rooms. Outside, the splendiferousness continues with a members’ terrace and a walled garden that is rather phenomenal, even if we do say so ourselves.
Everything is designed to make the usual unusual; the ordinary extraordinary. Decor veers from gracious sophistication to dramatic intensity. Nothing matches, but everything makes complete sense.
The Tea Rooms Can a cup of tea be glamorous? We think so. When it’s served in exquisite cups, in gracious surroundings where everything glides and floats with luscious loveliness. Afternoon tea is nibbly, naughtily served, and it can be a grown up occasion or a family affair. When the plates are cleared, charm makes way for charisma as pre-dinner drinks are sipped. Private Dine Room
In a dark, velvety burrow we shroud you from the world round a table set for 12. Here, drama and fastidiousness collide. The scene is opulent, extravagant, yet oddly intriguing. Your own Kingdom where you choose the lighting, the music, the menu, the company. Feast in privacy at breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, or bring the board and do business in pleasure. Champagne Bar
Outrageously chic. The love child of Parisian je ne sais quoi and Georgian elegance.
This tremendous bar sweeps you in and gets into your soul, but watch it, because it won’t want to let you leave. If it has its way, you’ll be in its fine midst from morning until 3am, while it romances you with devilish cocktails, expertly concocted to reflect your mood, a myriad of drinks served cool, long, frothed or any other way you like them, scrumptious dishes and supercool DJs. It won’t insist that you drink Champagne, but quite frankly, why wouldn’t you? The Brasserie
Sumptuous and serene, the Brasserie is classically modern. Or contemporarily traditional, whichever you prefer. Either way it’s a little bit unconventional and a lot bit gorgeous. The meals are divine anyway, but the surroundings simply make life taste better. Serving lunch, informal afternoon tea and dinner every day, the Brasserie becomes a VIP room for the bar at weekends, after dinner. The Members Lounge
Expect the unexpected and disappointment will never be your friend. By day, a business hub, by night, a chilled out retreat, by weekend, an indulgent playground for grown-ups. The Members’ Lounge has a strong and confident vibe, softened by luxury, brought down to earth with good honest bar food, sharpened by awesome contemporary details; but we don’t want to give too much away… The Walled Garden
Come on an oddly magical journey through our fairytale dream world. Skim through the skies in daylight, twilight or no light, past the bamboos, over Bedouin tents and into the secret garden. A world away from the humdrum, your spirit can soar. The Dining Rooms
So impressive, so glam, so opulent. But hang on a sec, through the grandeur glimmers a spark of humour, a sprinkling of wit and a service ethic that feels like a great big hug. We tried to take formal dining seriously, but it appears we’re just not stuffy enough. That said, the cuisine makes you want to do that thing where you kiss your fingers and go ‘mwah’ and the décor looks good enough to eat. But don’t.

| The Red Lion

| The Red Lion59 Northgate Street Chester CH1 2HQ
Tel 01244 321 750Traditional Pub in the heart of the City on Northgate Street.
Welcome to The Red Lion
You will find The Red Lion in Northgate Street Chester within a short stroll of Chester Railway Station, Chester Cathedral and Chester Cross - however you won't find another like it.
Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality.
A fascinating past You will find the cosy, welcoming Red Lion within a stone's throw of the Chester Cross, Chester Cathedral and a fascinating city which was originally founded as a fort by the Romans in AD79.
In 1792 the Chester Directory records around 140 inns in the town and by 1858, local author Thomas Hughes recorded 36 trading in Northgate Street alone, describing them "as plentiful as blackberries". Rumour has it Chester once had one pub for every day of the year.
With so many ale houses and over 2000 years of well documented city history it is not surprising that Chester claims its fair share of ghost stories, including the title of the most haunted City. The Red Lion, the most popular alehouse name in the UK, was built in around 1600. Notable by its black and white style of the Tudor period it adds its own story of a haunted cellar, a tale emphatically retold by a previous landlady.
One of a kind The Red Lion is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.

Stylish modern bar in a medieval crypt. Also serves food. Based in the heart of the City just a short walk from the cross, this unique bar is worth a visit.
The extremely fine sandstone under croft in this bar dates from about 1300 and is Listed grade 1. It has two naves of four vaulted bays with chamfered ribs springing from three octagonal central columns and slender colonettes attached to the walls. The west side has an inserted archway leading to the next-door under croft. The original archway in the rear wall opens to one of a pair of rear chambers which were later barrel-vaulted in brick. Watergates' under croft is described as 'the best stone vault in Chester'. It is also the largest of many surviving examples of these medieval cellars which were used as warehouses by the merchants who lived in the buildings above. On Watergate Street.
