A 20 minute walk from the centre of Chester.

Wandered into the Shanghai Restaurant one cold, dark and dank December evening to have a meal with some friends on the opening time of the restaurant which as 6pm. We didn’t book any tables we just walked in on the night. This well established restaurant is easy to find due to the large illuminated sign on the edge of the customer car park just on the main Hoole Road near the Faulkner Street junction (about a mile from the City Centre, twenty minutes walk, ten minutes walk from the Railway Station).
This Chinese restaurant is set in a large Victorian house set end on to the busy Hoole Road. Once inside it was warm and welcoming. We selected one of the many tables and sat down for pre meal drinks. The menu is the standard Chinese restaurant menu as you expect. Inside is clean modern and spacey with an entrance lobby and customer toilets all on the ground floor. Not too noisy inside with dimmed lighting.
Prices are the upper side of average, not many bargains are special offers down on the list.
I had my standard Chinese restaurant selection, which was sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice. Which was well cooked, and presented by attentive staff.
Overall a good relaxing experience with good service, the restaurant is excellent for couples, friends and large groups.
