The Northgate Arena is a leisure complex built in the late 1970's. It is located ten minutes walk from the city centre. The facilities include squash courts, main hall for basket ball or badminton. A dojo, two swimming pools one main pool and a training pool, steam room and sauna, gym.

Open from 12noon weekdays and 10am weekends, with extended hours on school holidays.
Unlike the sterile atmosphere of a rigid lane pool, the Northgate Arena boasts a freeform leisure pool that incorporates a six lane 25 metre area,
commencing with a beach section and gradually deepening to reach a depth of 3.2 metres; shallow enough for young families to have fun in while sufficient
for the more confident swimmer.

With the more serious swimmer, lessons and fitness classes in mind, this pool has been specifically designed to a max of 1.2 metres in depth.
A four lane, 25 metre swimming facility that gives more options and choices.

Northgate Arena specifically designed creche is open on weekday mornings to all children aged under 8. All of the creche supervisors and their staff are qualified and experienced in the care of babies and very young children. They will engage your child in a safe and stimulating activities whilst you relax and enjoy your own time in your chosen activity. We know that for you to be happy you need to know that your child is safe and content.
The creche is inspected by OFSTED and more than meets all the current legislation. We ask that parents come and have a look at the creche before your child's visit and complete a registration form with important information that we will need to know before their first session.

Indoor Playground
Situated in the large main hall at the Northgate Arena; this indoor playground offers a safe, warm and alternative to the local parks. Operating all year round, each Tuesday and Thursday morning the playground contains plenty of toys, bikes, push alongs and games to keep your toddlers happy. The playground is open to all pre-school children accompanies by an adult.
