Hiroshima and Nagasaki Memorial Tree

On the opposite bank of the river is the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Memorial Tree.
The Plaque reads:
This oak tree was planted in November 2004 by Minister Kishino of the Japanese Embassy, in memory of all those who died and suffered as a result of the dropping of the atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. In the belief that this must never happen again. This event was organised by local peace groups and supported by Chester City Council.
